Warehouse Industry Forecast

Warehouse demand forecast to soar in next five years

Warehouse demand forecast to soar in next five years

The massive expansion of internet shopping in the UK is fuelling an unprecedented demand for strategically located logistic warehouse space across many parts of the country.

Property Consultants Lambert Smith Hampton have reported in their annual Industrial and Logistics market report that internet retailers want more space than is currently available to satisfy customer demand for quick delivery times on an increasing number of consumer items.

Steve Williams from LSH said that “Unless developers start building warehouses at a rate that we haven’t witnessed over the last 20 years, we could run out of logistics space by the end of the decade.”

Academy Consulting’s track record in this sector means we are well placed to support both developers and tenants seeking to deliver both new and refurbished industrial units to meet market forces.

Mike Bull, Managing Director of Academy Consulting, says “We have worked on a number of industrial and business park schemes including 200 new build units and refurbishment projects in strategically placed locations.

We are often involved from feasibility stage working as Cost Consultant and Project Manager, making sure budgets are worked to and the most suitable Contractors chosen.

We are able to ensure our clients projects are cost effective and run smoothly from the outset. Our most recent scheme is at Elizabeth Industrial Estate, Lewisham where a new distribution facility for DHL has been built along with several trade counter units”

Academy sponsors Mipim drinks reception celebrating Kent’s investment opportunities

Academy are delighted to be one of seven Organisations sponsoring a high profile drinks reception at the Mipim 2016 event in France during March. The reception, on Wednesday 16th March, is showcasing Kent as a destination for relocation and also for investment and development opportunities. Current schemes in Kent include four major town centre regeneration projects in Ashford, Dartford, Dover and Sittingbourne which will create up to half a million sq ft of new office space. 158,000 new homes are also planned for the County by 2031.

Academy’s Mike Bull says “Academy Consulting have always had a presence in Kent with our office in Tunbridge Wells, so we are very pleased to be able to support our Kent colleagues at this important event in MIPIM. Kent is extremely well connected with several growing commercial centres in the region and this event will really help promote the area as a great place to live and work”
