Description

A new building providing operating theatres, wards and consulting rooms connected to an existing functioning hospital.

Includes new services as well as adaptations and upgrades to the existing hospital and connections to a new sub-station and plant facility.

External works includes for new parking and landscaping.

Challenge

Building on a very constrained site in a busy London residential area with the additional challenge of connecting the new building to the fully operational existing hospital.

Solution

Detailed design with the Contractor at an early stage to contribute to the design process and advise on build-ability and logistics.

 

Investigations of the existing structure and engineering services prior to embarking on construction. 

 

Result

A building that incorporates all of the client's requirements including all of the specified facilities with capacity for growth and adaptability.
